Stuck in a rut? Want to jump-start your walk with Jesus-or deepen your faith? Then get involved in missions. At SHV, we are reaching out: to be the hands of Jesus to others, in our community and across the world. Whether serving locally through the NET, going on short-term trips, helping support missionaries financially, or lifting up others in prayer-missions is a way for you to catch Jesus' heart for the nations. This is a great way to plug-in and to help others; there is no ministry training necessary, and the time commitment is very manageable.
LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES
FOOD BANK We feed 150+ families per week via our Food Bank and Sunday outreach. As such, we are always in need of basic food supplies. Next time you are at the grocery store, please grab a couple items for the Food Bank. Helpful items include: soups, stews, pastas, baby items and diapers (all sizes), peanut butter, canned fruit and veggies, and canned meat. Please bring donations to the silver racks in either lobby. Your efforts will bless many!
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY This summer we have been partnering with 15 area churches to build a house for a family in need. There are still many days left to volunteer, and we need your help, so come see what all the hype is about! If you are interested, contact Doug at riderx5@mac.com
MISSIONARY OF THE MONTH Jay and Andrea Bransford and their son Graham are long-term missionaries living in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Two years ago they opened a retreat center for missionaries called “The Dwelling” and God has blessed both this family and those that they serve in this peaceful home. They also run a ministry called “Sheep Dogs” for all mission organizations in their area that offers, organizational, team, and leadership consulting. If you are interested in receiving the Bransford’s newsletters, contact them at bransfordsgo@yahoo.com. Please join us in praying for this special family and for their ministry in Thailand!”
